HomeWomen’s Empowerment & Gender Justice Project (WEGJP)

OVERVIEW

The Women’s Empowerment & Gender Justice Project (WEGJP) is a transformative initiative focused on addressing gender inequality and combating gender-based violence (GBV) in all its forms. Across many communities, women and girls continue to face systemic barriers, including discrimination, limited economic opportunities, and exposure to violence and harmful cultural practices.

WEGJP adopts a holistic approach that combines advocacy, direct support services, and economic empowerment to uplift women and girls. By creating safe spaces, strengthening support systems, and promoting equal opportunities, the project seeks to build a society where women can live with dignity, security, and full participation in social and economic life.

Key Activities

1. Advocacy Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
The project leads advocacy campaigns aimed at preventing and responding to GBV. This includes engaging policymakers, community leaders, and the public to challenge harmful norms, strengthen laws, and promote zero tolerance for violence against women and girls.

2. Legal and Psychosocial Support for Survivors
WEGJP provides survivors of abuse with access to legal assistance, counseling, and referral services. The initiative ensures that survivors receive the care, protection, and justice they need to recover and rebuild their lives.

3. Skills Training and Economic Empowerment Programs
Recognizing the link between economic dependence and vulnerability, the project equips women and female youth with vocational skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship training. These programs are designed to promote sustainable livelihoods and financial independence.

4. Media and Public Awareness Campaigns
Through radio, social media, and community outreach, WEGJP amplifies messages on women’s rights, gender equality, and available support services. These campaigns help raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage community-wide support for gender justice.
